Título : A randomized, crossover comparison of herbal medicine and bromocriptine against risperidone-induced hyperprolactinemia in patients with schizophrenia Tipo de documento: texto impreso Autores: Hai Ning Yuan, Autor ; Chuan Yue Wang, Autor ; Cho Wing Sze, Autor Fecha de publicación: 2023 Artículo en la página: pp. 264-370 Idioma : Inglés (eng) Idioma original : Inglés (eng) Palabras clave: Amenorrea, Antipsicóticos, Bromocriptina, Terapia con medicamentos, Hiperprolactinemia, Oligomenorrea, Fitoterapia, Progesterona, Risperidona, Esquizofrenia. Resumen: Hyperprolactinemia is a common adverse effect that occurs as a result of antipsychotic therapies, which often results in discontinuation. Empirical evidence has shown that some herbal medicines have suppressive effects on prolactin (PRL) hyperactivities. This study was designed to compare the herbal preparation called Peony-Glycyrrhiza Decoction (PGD) with bromocriptine (BMT), a dopamine agonist widely used for PRL-secreting disorders, in the treatment of risperidone-induced hyperprolactinemia. Resumen: The study prospectively examined the economic outcomes and comedications among first-episode schizophrenic patients treated with monotherapy of second-generation antipsychotic agents (SGAs) continuously as compared with each other and with haloperidol. The sample included 3047 out of Taiwan's national sample of 29,341 first-episode schizophrenic patients, who were selected, based on International Classification of Disease, Ninth Revision code 295, from the National Health Insurance original claims data from 1999 to 2004. Título : Effect of antipsychotics on peptides involved in energy balance in drug-naive psychotic patients after 1 year of treatment Tipo de documento: texto impreso Autores: Rocio Perez Iglesias, Autor ; Jose Luis Vázquez Barquero, Autor ; Jose Antonio Amado, Autor Fecha de publicación: 2023 Artículo en la página: pp. 289-295 Idioma : Inglés (eng) Idioma original : Inglés (eng) Palabras clave: Antipsicóticos, Benzodiacepinas, Composición corporal, Índice de masa corporal, Haloperidol, Insulina, Leptina, Nicotinamida, Trastornos psicóticos, Trastornos psicóticos, Esquizofrenia. Resumen: Weight gain has become one of the most common and concerning side effects of antipsychotic treatment. The mechanisms whereby antipsychotics induce weight gain are not known. It has been suggested that peptides related to food intake and energy balance could play a role in weight gain secondary to antipsychotic therapy. Link: ./index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=30849

Título : Methylphenidate for the treatment of apathy in alzheimer disease : Prediction of response using dextroamphetamine challenge Tipo de documento: texto impreso Autores: Nathan Herrmann, Autor ; Lana S. Resumen: Apathy is a common behavioral symptom of Alzheimer's disease (AD), being present in up to 70% of patients. Apathy in AD and non-AD populations has been associated with dysfunction in the dopaminergic brain reward system, suggesting that pharmacotherapeutic targeting of this system may be an effective treatment for apathy in AD.
