Título : Pregnenolone and dehydroepiandrosterone as an adjunctive treatment in schizophrenia and schizoaffective disorder : an 8 week, double blind, randomized, controlled, 2 center, parallel group trial Tipo de documento: texto impreso Autores: Michael S. Ritsner, Autor ; Anatoly Gibel, Autor ; Tatyana Shleifer, Autor Fecha de publicación: 2022 Artículo en la página: pp. 1351-1362 Idioma : Inglés (eng) Idioma original : Inglés (eng) Palabras clave: Antipsicóticos, Dehidroepiandrosterona, Farmacoterapia, combinación, Discinesia inducida por fármacos, Memoria a corto plazo, Neurotransmisores, Pregnenolona, Trastornos psicóticos, Esquizofrenia, Índice de gravedad de la enfermedad. Resumen: Pregnenolone (PREG) and dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) are reported to have a modulatory effect on neuronal excitability, synaptic plasticity, and response to stress; they are associated with mood regulation and cognitive performance. We investigated the influence of PREG and DHEA on psychotic symptoms and cognitive functioning as an add-on to ongoing antipsychotic treatment of patients with chronic schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder. Ritsner en Journal of Clinical Psychopharmacology, Año 2004 - Vol. 24 - No. 6 (Diciembre)

Título : Quality of life outcomes of risperidone, olanzapine, and typical antipsychotics among schizophrenia patients treated in routine clinical practice : A naturalistic comparative study Tipo de documento: texto impreso Autores: Michael S. Ritsner, Autor ; Anatoly Gibel, Autor ; Galina Perelroyzen, Autor Fecha de publicación: 2023 Artículo en la página: PP. 582-591 Idioma : Inglés (eng) Idioma original : Inglés (eng) Palabras clave: Atención Ambulatoria, Antipsicóticos, Benzodiacepinas, Calidad de Vida, Risperidona, Esquizofrenia, Psicología esquizofrénica. Resumen: Findings in previous studies investigating the beneficial effect of risperidone and olanzapine versus typical antipsychotics on quality of life (QOL) are controversial since they did not adjust for various factors contributing to QOL. To test this assumption in a naturalistic cross-sectional design, we evaluated general and domain-specific QOL scores for baseline data of schizophrenia outpatients stabilized on atypical (N = 78, risperidone or olanzapine) and typical (N = 55) agents.
