Resumen: |
Contends that Dickens had an enormous capacity for sublimation but that it is difficult to say whether Dickens's capacity to draw on his own life experiences, especially the pain he suffered as a child, represented a true sublimation—a drive discharge in a modified form—or a variety of defensive measures. References to Dickens's writings are cited to illustrate the point. |
