Resumen:	We have conceptualized the development of object relationships in terms of the gradual establishment of perceptual object constancy together with the gradual establishment of the libidinal tie to the primary object. These permit, in turn, the move away from the stage of the need-satisfying relationship, and form the foundation for the development of the capacity for constant relationships.
