Resumen:	The neurotic defense mechanisms are pathologically exaggerated or distorted regulation and adaptation mechanisms, which in themselves belong to normal development. Mental mechanisms which may later be used as neurotic defense mechanisms in adult neuroses are normal developmental mechanisms in early childhood, as long as they serve and promote the ego's regulative and adaptive capacities.
