Whether elderly people suffer from age-related changes in pharmacokinetics and/or pharmacodynamics with administration of benzodiazepines is still a matter of controversy. We investigated the course of brain function and thermoregulation after oral administration of a standard benzodiazepine, diazepam (DZP), in 8 healthy young men (mean age, 19.8 years; range, 18 to 23 years) and 8 healthy middle-aged and older men (mean age, 60.9 years; range, 53 to 71 years). |
