Discusses the demographics of daycare and examines advantages and disadvantages of the 3 types of settings available to working mothers: home, center, and family care. The importance of age-specific issues relative to infants to 2½ yrs, preschoolers to age 5 yrs, and school-age children is stressed. The effects of daycare on child development, based on a review of the literature, are described. |
