Describes the cases of 3 holocaust survivors and their relative capacity for playfulness to illustrate how such capacities as play, fantasy, dreams, and reflections require a reliable, responsive human environment. It is suggested that the relative ability to recover playfulness is an index of the severity of dehumanizing trauma and the potential for healing. |
